How to distinguish anionic/positive/non-ionic polyacrylamide?

Polyacrylamide is an important type of water-soluble polymer with special physical and chemical properties. It is widely used in various industries in the national economy. According to different production processes, polyacrylamide is divided into cationic, anionic and nonionic polyacrylamide. In many cases, when distributors provide customers with polyacrylamide to treat sewage, the distributors do not inform the ionic type and molecular weight of the chemicals used in order to protect their own interests. In this case, how should we detect polyacrylamide? What about the ionic type of acrylamide purifier?

1. PH value of the solution

The simplest method is to test the pH value of the polyacrylamide solution. The pH value of various types of polyacrylamide solutions is different. However, the PH value of the polyacrylamide products produced by different manufacturers and the raw materials of the production process are not all absolute. This method is only the most routine test.

2. Dissolve the drug

Select anionic polyacrylamide and cationic polyacrylamide products, and dissolve them separately, and mix the polyacrylamide product solution to be tested with the two PAM solutions. If it reacts with the anionic polyacrylamide product, the polyacrylamide product Acrylamide is cationic. If it reacts with cations, it proves that the PAM product is anionic or non-ionic.

3. Sewage experiment inference

If conditions permit, we can make inferences through sewage experiments.

Anionic polyacrylamide is suitable for higher concentration of positively charged inorganic suspended matter, as well as coarser suspended particles (0.01-1mm), and the pH value is neutral or alkaline.

Cationic polyacrylamide is suitable for suspensions with negative charges and organic substances.

Non-ionic polyacrylamide is suitable for the separation of suspended solids in a mixed state of organic and inorganic, and the solution is acidic or neutral.
