The traditional method of treating this organic wastewater is physical sedimentation and biochemical fermentation. In the biochemical treatment process, a polymer flocculant, namely polyacrylamide, is used. General sewage treatment (air flotation or sedimentation) uses inorganic flocculants (polyaluminum chloride) and organic polymer polyacrylamide in combination, while the latter treatment is sludge dewatering, using organic polymer flocculants (cationic polyacrylamide).
