Food wastewater mainly refers to the wastewater discharged from alcohol, monosodium glutamate, beer, liquor, starch, lactose, xylitol, citric acid, vegetable processing and various beverage processing. Its main feature is the relatively high content of COD, BOD, SS and grease, which is a high-concentration organic wastewater. Its main pollution hazard can make the water body eutrophication, cause the death of fish and other aquatic animals, and promote the decomposition of organic matter deposited at the bottom under anaerobic conditions, produce odor, worsen the water body, and pollute the environment.

Polyacrylamide method for wastewater treatment in food factories:

The traditional method of treating this organic wastewater is physical sedimentation and biochemical fermentation. In the biochemical treatment process, a polymer flocculant, namely polyacrylamide, is used. General sewage treatment (air flotation or sedimentation) uses inorganic flocculants (polyaluminum chloride) and organic polymer polyacrylamide in combination, while the latter treatment is sludge dewatering, using organic polymer flocculants (cationic polyacrylamide). Acrylamide) is used as a sludge dewatering agent. Anionic polyacrylamide is also selected for sludge dewatering of individual sewage. This should be further determined according to the actual situation of each plant.


Whether it is the treatment of food fermentation wastewater or other industrial wastewater, the process flow is similar. The selection of flocculants must be conducted in small experiments for screening, then pilot tests, and finally on-board operation.
