Municipal sewage is the general name of domestic sewage, industrial wastewater and runoff sewage in the urban area. It is usually collected and discharged into water bodies by urban pipelines or drained into water bodies after treatment by urban sewage treatment plants.

The use of polyacrylamide in municipal sewage is generally a biochemical sludge treatment process in the latter stage. After adding polyacrylamide, the sludge enters the filter press for pressure filtration, thereby forming a mud cake.
